Digital Guard Dawg Keyless Ignition Module

Here is the scene - you have all your gear on, Jacket, Leather pants, helmet gloves...ugh forgot my key in my pocket!

Off come the gloves, search around for the key and get on your way.

If you have ever done this you will appreciate the keyless ignition system.

What is it? It is a high quality RFID device which acts as your ignition switch. Now instead of using your keys to start your bike, you carry around a Dawg Tag, basically an electronic wireless key. Instead of using the key to physically turn the bike on and hit the run/start switch - you just walk up to the bike and turn the run/start switch and ON and start your bike. When you get off your bike, turn the run/start switch to OFF and by the time you are ten feet away from your bike, its 100% disabled, no way to start it.

This replaces the physical key switch. On my bike I used one of the DGD Keyhole covers, which is really nice looking. When you look at the dash of the bike, no key, when you look around the bike, no key. Need to use your accessory switch so you can leave on your LED's while you are away, no problem there is an accessory switch which you can mount anywhere you want, now thats cool.

This is the same keyless entry system you will find in the new Corvettes and Mercedes cars. Its just a super trick system.

I have been using the device now for about 60 days. I do not know how I got along with out it, its so nice to ride up shut the bike off and walk away; and know you are safe. It works flawlessly.

You should be comfortable working with splicing wires, and working at the ignition switch. Though its not required for the installation I would suggest that you solder all the wire and use marine grade or adhesive filled heat shrink wrap - this is your ignition after all.

The kit comes with all the bits and pieces you will need for install.

I installed mine myself on a 2003 FLSTCi Heritage, so thats my reference point on the installation.

Before you work disconnect your battery.

Here is the concept: you take the 3 wires which hook into your ignition switch and hook them to DGD-KIM, you then find the wires from your run/start switch and cut it feeding the side from the switch to the DGD-KIM and looping the other end. One wire to ground and then a wire to hookup your accessory switch.

Have a look a the the wires on my bike:

The trick is finding a sweet spot to install it, on my bike it was behind the tins around the headlight. Now the KIM device is really small about 1 inch by 1 inch so finding a spot is easy.

I got it all tucked away and was able to rerun the ignition switch lines from the Key switch to the headlight area with no problem - took a bit of fooling around to get it right.

The picture below shows the back of the dash on my bike and the wires you will be using.

I removed the key switch its self and used one of the Keyhole Covers which DGD offers. This is an awesome option, mine looks GREAT.

Check it out......

The actual "key" you carry is very flexible, and can be programmed to work with more than one bike, you can get multiple "keys" to run on the same bike, its really flexible for those who have more than one bike.

You are probably wonder, "what do I do if I loose my key?" well DGD has thought of that as well. They do not want you to get stranded so they have a phone number you can call and they will get your bike started for you.

The quality of the product is very very high. This is NOT made in china, its components are made in South Africa by an OEM products manufacturing plant, and then assembled here in Folsom CA. This is refreshing cause most electronics are made in China and imported into the US.

Now you may say - how is this different from the Keyless Security system that is for sale?

It is very different. It totally replaces your ignition switch. The Keyless security system augmented your key by disabling your starter relay once you were out of range. So with keyless security you still use your key if you want to.

The keyless Ignition system replaces the actual key housing. There is NO key to the bike just the Dawg Tag (RFID Tag) is all that is needed to start your bike.

The operation of the two units is the same in the sense that your bike is disabled when you walk more than 10 feet away, and it cannot be started.

Why Remove the key? For one security through obscurity is a good equation. There is no key to pick - therefore your bike is a hard target because there is no way to tell where the bikes ignition switch is. Second its a easy super cool mod that sets your bike apart from the rest of the bikes in the lot!

The Keyless Security module (KIM) is available for ALL bikes, Harley Davidson to Yamaha there is a module for your bike.

The Keyless Ignition Module and the Keyless Security systems are the only security system available for Victory bikes, so if you have a Victory and have been thinking about a security system, be sure to check these products out.

I love this product and would highly recommend it. The price point of $369.00 makes this the best option for a cool feature and a great security system.
