FAQs

Does the Bike shut off if I walk away with the Dawg Tag?

No, the KIM module only needs to see the Dawg Tag for Authorization to start not to keep running, we designed the system this way as a safety precaution in case the Dawg Tag fell out of your pocket while riding down the freeway or the batteries died while you were on a ride.

Is the DGD-KIM a good security system?

Often the first appeal of the DGD-KIM is its convenience or the coolness factor of not having to use keys, but if the system were rated only for the level of security it provides it would still be one of the strongest on the market. What makes the DGD-KIM such as powerful security device is the way it works with your bikes electrical system. A common bike alarm or start interrupt system only kills one circuit on you bike. This is almost always the start circuit. In the case of the DGD-KIM it is hardwired right into the bikes whole ignition system, so when it’s armed no other circuit on the bike can even get power. None of the typical “jump from here to here” tricks will work. Your bike’s simply dead weight.

How hard is the install?

The installation is very straight forward. On the “Guard Dawg Install Scale” we rate it a 2 beer install. You will need to locate your bikes ignition switch connector, typically this is about 6-9 inches from the ignition switch, you will just unplug the ignition switch and plug us in. Next you will locate your stop/run connector, typically this is located in the headlight bucket, unplug the connector and plug us in. Finally just run a wire to the negative side of your battery, after that crack open your second beer and test out your new keyless ignition.

When do I have to replace the battery in my Dawg Tag?

We recommend changing your batteries once a year, depending on use you can expect to get 1-3 years out of your Dawg Tag batteries.

Can I add addition Dawg Tags to my system?

Yes, Each system can learn up to four unique Dawg Tags. If you have numerous bikes you can program each of your Dawg Tags to operate any of your bikes.

Can one Dawg Tag control numerous bikes?

Yes, Each system can learn up to four unique Dawg Tags. If you have numerous bikes you can program each of your Dawg Tags to operate any of your bikes.

Do the bikes lights come on when I walk up to my bike?

No, The way the DGD-KIM system works is like this; as you approach your bike, the system begins communication to see if you have a valid Dawg tag with you. If you have a valid tag the system “pre-authorizes” your ignition and accessory circuits, but doesn’t turn anything on until you flip your stop/run switch to “on”, then the DGD-KIM sequentially turns on your Ignition, Accessories and lights.

If I change the battery in either my bike or Dawg Tag do I need to reprogram the Dawg Tag?

No, The Dawg Tags utilize non-volatile memory and will not lose their programming if either the Dawg Tag or the module loses power.

Will my insurance company give me a discount for having this system installed?

Each insurance company is different, this system provide a “3 point immobilization” and locks down your entire bikes electrical systems.

What if I want to listen to the radio while at a car/bike show but not run the entire ignition?

You can add our optional Accessory switch which enables you to turn on your ACC circuit independent from your ignition system as well as the Dawg Tag, this is a great option if you are at a show or even just a BBQ and you won’t be at your bike the whole time but want to run LED lighting or the radio. Your bike will still be protected from someone attempting to hop on and ride because you will not be there with the Dawg Tag.

What if I lose my Dawg Tag?

If you lose your Dawg Tag, simply enter your user programmable bypass code via the stop/run switch and you will be able to start your bike. Then give us a call and we can get another fob expedited out to you.

Does each Dawg Tag have a different code or frequency?

Each tag has its own unique digital code, one in over 6 billion. The system learns your tags individual serial number.

Is the DGD-KIM protected against “Code grabbers”?

Yes, each Dawg Tag uses what’s called “rolling code” meaning that when it sends a code to the module, the next time they communicate they will use a different a code. This code uses a complex algorithm; so that even if someone stole your code, the next time your system and Dawg Tag communicate the old code that was “grabbed” is no longer valid and will no longer authorize the module.

How many Dawg Tags come with a system?

Each Digital Guard Dawg System comes with (1) Dawg Tag included. You can purchase extra Dawg Tags and program up to (4) per system. Extra Dawg Tags can be added any time. You can also program a single tag into multiple systems so that you can operates all you Motorcycles or Vehicle by carrying just one Dawg Tag.

Is the DGD-KIM Water proof?

The DGD-KIM is a fully sealed unit, we classify the module as IP67 “highly water resistant”. The system has been tested to operate correctly after being completely submerged underwater for over 5 minutes.

What about Alarm sensors or sirens?

Alarm systems and Keyless Ignition systems They approach the problems of theft in two completely different ways. The Keyless Ignition eliminates your ignition switch and makes it so you never have to use keys, Just walk up flip your Stop/Run switch, thumb the start button and go. When you’re done riding you just walk away. Its true that often the first appeal of the DGD-KIM is its convenience or the coolness factor of not having to use keys, but if the system were rated only for the level of security it provides it would still be one of the strongest on the market. Alarms typically will have a “starter interrupt” which only kills (1) circuit on your bike, “The Starter” this leaves the bike vulnerable to simply being jump started or simply hot wiring to the starter. What makes the DGD-KIM such a powerful security device is the way it works with your bikes electrical system. In the case of the DGD-KIM it is hardwired right into the bike whole ignition system, so when it’s armed no other circuit on the bike can even get power. None of the typical “jump from here to here” tricks will work. Your bike’s simply dead weight. Regarding, Single, Dual or Triple Axis sensors; As cool as they all sound, simply because of the environment a motorcycle lives in, we have never seen one that doesn’t have frequent false alarms from rain, wind or a truck driving by, this is why we don’t try and detect bumps. Also due to the limits of space on most motorcycles, it’s also extremely hard to mount a siren on a bike that can’t be found and disabled in a matter of seconds.

Will the DGD-KIM void my warranty ?

Not at all, We have been selling the DGD-KIM series of systems for over 5 years and have never had a single manufactures warranty issue.

What type of battery does the Dawg Tag use?

The Dawg Tag uses (2) CR2032 batteries.

Will the system work with my aftermarket or stock alarm system?

Our unit is an independent unit so it will work fine with any aftermarket or stock alarm system.
